Day 1 Pick up at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR)
Drive to Mikumi National Park with lunch en route. On arrival at the accommodation, you can relax and in the late afternoon, visit Maasai village nearby and learn about the Maasai culture. Go back to the camp for dinner and overnight at Camp Bastian.
Day 2 - 3 Two full day game drive in Mikumi National Park
Whilst on safari, you can see a rich variety of bird species, as well as large numbers of giraffes, buffalos, and elephants. If you are lucky, you may also be able to spot lions, leopards, and African wild dogs. Likely to be seen animals include zebras, hippos, hartebeests, wildebeests, impalas, warthogs, elands, and antelopes. Several observation towers enable you to overview the park in its entirety. Overnight at Camp Bastian.
Day 4 After breakfast
Drive back to Dar Es Salaam and connect to a domestic flight to Zanzibar departing at 16:00, arriving at 16:20. On arrival, transfer to Bwejuu and overnight at Twisted Palm Lodge on bed and breakfast.
Day 5 - 7 Relax at Twisted Palms Lodge
The beautiful coastline with its palm-fringed beaches creates an image of a forgotten paradise. Here, you can relax on the balmy, tropical shores of the Indian Ocean. In the morning, it may be possible to see some of the local fishermen, in their traditional dhows, bringing in their catch of the day. Spend your days relaxing on the beach or snorkeling in crystal-clear water or take a diving trip at Mnemba Atoll. There are bicycles for hire or several optional excursions can be arranged through the hotel, such as scuba diving, boat excursions, fishing trips or a spice tour of the island. You could also opt to visit the nearby turtle sanctuary where injured turtles and other marine animals are cared for until they are well enough to be set free into the wild.
Day 8 After breakfast
Transfer to Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) for international flight home.
Note: You may need to take a short connector flight at additional cost if you fly from Dar Es Salaam.
