    Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp

    Drive through rural farmland to Londorossi Gate for registration, then begin a gradual ascent through lush montane rainforest. Watch for blue and colobus monkeys before reaching Mti Mkubwa Camp, tucked into the forest.

    Depart around midnight by headlamp, reaching Stella Point (5,756 m) on the crater rim near sunrise, then the final stretch to Uhuru Peak, 5,895 m — the roof of Africa. Descend to Barafu for a rest, then on to Mweka Camp.

Frequently Asked Questions

The extra days give your body more time to acclimatize, which is the single biggest factor in reaching the summit. Lemosho's gradual western approach and 'climb high, sleep low' profile make it one of the highest-success routes on Kilimanjaro.

It is a demanding multi-day trek but requires no technical climbing. Any reasonably fit person who trains with regular hikes for 2–3 months beforehand can attempt it. The Barranco Wall is a fun scramble, not a climb.

The dry seasons — January to early March and June to October. July to September offers the most stable weather and clearest summit views, and pairs perfectly with a Great Migration safari afterwards.
