Plan on WhatsAppA four-day safari that opens on foot: a guided walking safari in Arusha National Park on the slopes of Mount Meru, then classic game drives in Tarangire, Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater. The walking start gets you close to the landscape and birdlife before the big-game days, making this a more varied loop than a standard drive-only safari.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
- 1
Arusha National Park Walking Safari
Begin on foot with a guided walking safari in Arusha National Park on the lower slopes of Mount Meru — a rare chance to approach giraffe, zebra, buffalo and birdlife up close, with views toward Kilimanjaro on a clear day. Picnic lunch near the flamingo-dotted Momella Lakes, looking for colobus monkeys in the forest, then transfer to your Arusha lodge for dinner.

Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, drive to Tarangire for a full day among its famous baobabs and large elephant herds. Game drives along the savannah and the Tarangire River — a year-round magnet for wildlife — give great chances at lions, zebra, giraffe and the occasional tree-climbing lion or leopard. Picnic lunch in the park, dinner and overnight at a lodge or tented camp nearby.

Lake Manyara National Park
A morning game drive in Lake Manyara, where groundwater forest, grassland and a soda lake meet — pink flamingos, pelicans and storks, plus hippos, baboons, big elephant herds and the park's famous tree-climbing lions. Picnic lunch by the lake, more game viewing, then transfer to a lodge in Karatu near the Ngorongoro highlands for the evening.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner · Mid-range lodge, Karatu
- 4
Ngorongoro Crater, return to Arusha
An early descent onto the crater floor — a UNESCO World Heritage Site with one of Africa's densest wildlife populations, including the Big Five. Game drive through grassland and forest with a picnic lunch by the hippo pool, then ascend the crater wall and drive back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport in the late afternoon.
