The crossings in the northern Serengeti typically happen July to October, peaking in the dry season. Timing shifts each year with the rains — message Ombeni with your dates and he'll advise where the herds are likely to be.

The 8-day adds an extra full day in the Serengeti, which means more time positioning for river crossings and big-cat sightings. Both are private safaris with the same route through Tarangire and Ngorongoro.

The route, vehicle and guiding are identical; the difference is the lodges and camps. 3-star is from $3,250pp and 4-star from $3,950pp.
